Research, research, research

The internet is font of useful information for all areas of life, but when it comes to the more sensitive topics like politics, religion, and personal finance that fountain of helpful knowledge can quickly turn into a landfill of flies jumping from dung pile to dung pile. Personal perspective and blind ambition can easily cover up things like “facts” and “reality.”

Over the course of the past few years, I have found two wonderful sites that are chockfull of incredibly valuable information. Each of these voluminous sites is a virtual encyclopedia of financial knowledge.

My Personal Favorite

Bankrate.com is a site I head to multiple times a day. One stop shopping for all your financial needs. This site shovels out data on mortgages, interest rates, financial planning calculators, tax information, as well as advice from experts and gurus from nearly every sector of the financial universe. Once you find this place, you’ll never want to leave (but don’t forget to come back and visit!).

A Close Second

Investopedia.com offers investment advice for the entire spectrum of investors–from beginners to seasoned pros. It is great place for that novice who is too scared to start investing at any level. Poke around the beginner section and allow the writers at investopedia.com uncloak investing myths.

Sigh. I’m afraid by sending you forth, I will lose your eyes forever.
