Unclaimed Funds
May 27th, 2006 | by Molly's Brother |From time-to-time, we hear news stories on how you can check to see if you have unclaimed money or property that is waiting for you to find it. The state of California alone is holding 4.8 billion dollars in unclaimed property. It might behoove you to do a quick search to see if you’re owed some money. I did a quick search, but unfortunately nothing came up for me–although I did find about $100 for a friend of mine. Who knew?
If you have moved often in the last few years, you should definitely log onto Unclaimed.org. Also, you might do a quick check with every state that you have lived in during the past few decades. I found one claim that went back to the early 1980s. For those of you living in California, here is the direct link to the State Controller’s office.
