Goal: Tomorrow Is A No Spending Day
By Molly's Brother | June 4, 2006
I must confess. My spending has been a bit out-of-control lately. I mean, don’t misunderstand me. I haven’t been running all over town buying plasma screens to hang in each room of my house–including my bathroom and kitchen. But I have fallen off the strict “money saving” diet that I committed to over the course of the last six months. Too many lunches out during the week. Too many after-work drinks with friends. Too many nights I have ordered dinner in because I was too stressed and busy to find any time to go to the grocery story.
Well, that stops NOW.
Tomorrow is a no frivolous spending day. Not a dime towards coffee or a dollar towards dinner. I’ll pay bills, put money in my savings account, do my laundry and buy groceries. All necessities. (And let’s be honest, what difference does it make if I do those things tonight, tomorrow night, or Tuesday night? That money is already earmarked to leave my life forever. Why delay the inevitable?)
But I won’t spend a dime on something that I don’t need. I won’t buy or consume something that I just merely want. I have buckled and given in to too many of my wants lately. That has to stop.
So it’s been busy. I got a little stressed. It caused me to spend a little more. Being overextended caused me to feel a bit overstressed, which nearly beget overspending. Thank God I noticed the pattern and was able to cut it off before I did any real damage.
Oh…and I’ll let you know how I do (gulp).
