Another Type Of PF Blog: Putting It Out For All To See
August 9th, 2006 | by Molly's Brother |I love the personal finance blogging community because of the diverse approaches to financial blogging. While I tend to talk about issues that can help you save money, I don’t get into the details of my personal financial situation. (I just don’t feel that comfortable having those details out there for the world to see–even if I am somewhat anonymous.)
However, as I read through other blogs, I come across some bloggers who do give weekly/monthly financial updates in terms of how they are knocking down their overall debt (credit cards, car payments, mortgages, school loans), as well as detailing how well they’ve kept to their weekly budget.
- From The Red is just starting out in this endeavor, but his blog is a fascinating snapshot into his life.
- Tricia at BloggingAwayDebt is well-known throughout the personal finance blogosphere and–I should mention–universally supported in her goal to eliminate debt.
- Kira over at PennyFoolish does a great job of not only talking about her debt, but talking about money making opportunities to eliminate her debt. Kira was also the creative force behind the Under 30 Honor Roll.
Granted, I think that we all have a very specific situation when it comes to debt. However, for those of us who feel like we are in way over our heads, these three bloggers provide a much needed level of support by allowing us to glimpse into their financial lives. It’s incredibly helpful and provides invaluable insight into our own reality.

I agree! The strength of the PF blogging community derives from the amazing variety of participants who reveal anywhere from all to nothing about their personal finances. These glimpses into each person’s financial goals and journey are both empowering and enlightening and I think that that’s quite motivational.

It is the variety that allows each of us to glean a lesson here and a lesson there. Sooner or later, by staying the course, we’ll hit our financial goals.

Thank you for the mention and the nice words about what I am doing. The pf community has been very supportive of what I am trying to do and it helps to keep me going strong. For that, I can’t thank everyone enough.

Tricia–I think your blog is so helpful to so many anonymous people who stumble upon it every week. Keep it up!
