Make Money Wherever You Can, part 2

Last week I discussed ways that you could make a little extra money. This week, I focus on strategies to help you figure out how you can make noticeably more money. Again, just as there are multiple ways for you to earn a little extra pocket money, there are always ways for you to earn significantly more money.

1. Sell your stuff, sell your stuff, sell your stuff. There are infinite outlets for you to get rid of your stuff–and get paid doing it. Whether you sell it on eBay, Half.com, or another favorite site of yours–get rid of it. And depending on the day, it is can be still nice enough to host a garage sale here in Sunny California. The point: You may have thousands of dollars sitting right in your house.

2. Supplement your income through part-time gigs. I mentioned a couple of weeks ago about a friend who is currently interested in making more money. So, she’s decided to spend time babysitting…and she’s making $20/hour doing it. Gulp. Twenty-bucks an hour? That’s a long ways away from the days when I would babysit for my neighbor’s son down the street. She would pay me with a handful of change. (Literally, her hands would be cupped together and she would drop a boatload of quarters into mine.) If babysitting is not for you, be sure to explore the “gigs” section of Craigslist.

3. Get a job! Sigh. For most of us, the words “second job” are about as lovely as writing a check to the IRS. However, this is also the most sure-fire way to help increase your savings and/or decrease your debt.
