I Still Aim for “No Spending Days”

June 18th, 2008 | by Molly's Brother |

Back when I started this blog in April of 2006, I would use every chance I could to have a “no spending day.” It was a game I played with myself first developed out of financial necessity. Once the financial dust settled, it became something that I continued to this very day.

It is an incredibly difficult goal for me to reach on a daily basis. It seems like every time I leave the house, I end up spending at least $20. This money can be spent on the most inane stuff–parking, a quick lunch with a friend, or a “cheap” movie. Sigh. In the difficult economic times–with the morgtage crisis and the high gas prices–I have tried to work to reinstate with an almost religious zeal this “No Spending Day” game. And just when I think I have reached success (like today), I come home and see that bills have arrived.

Argh. Oh, well. There is always tomorrow…
